DR. JOSEPH KAMPER DVM

Veterinarian

Born and raised in Tempe, Arizona, Dr. Kamper discovered his love for pet care at an early age, surrounded by a variety of companions ranging from hamsters to dogs and even boa constrictors. His affection for horses grew while assisting with his older sister's Arabians. Opting to stay in his home state, Dr. Kamper completed his undergraduate degree at Northern Arizona University, actively participating in muscle physiology research focused on the molecule titin.

A proud alumnus of Louisiana State University's School of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2019, Geaux Tigers!), Dr. Kamper embarked on a field care internship with Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY. This experience included rotations through surgery and medicine departments. Following his role as an associate in Kentucky, he made the decision to move back to Flagstaff, bringing him closer to family in the Southwest.

Beyond the typical veterinary school experiences of attending football games and relishing Cajun cuisine, Dr. Kamper dedicated weekends and holidays to working as a technician in the large animal hospital. Summers were occupied with research projects, delving into equine stem cell therapy or exploring blueberry feed supplementation. Additionally, his involvement as a national board member of the Veterinary Business Management Association led him to traverse the country attending veterinary conferences.

Dr. Kamper's expertise spans ambulatory equine practice and small animal care, with a specific passion for diagnostic imaging, including radiography and ultrasonography. Outside the realm of veterinary medicine, he enjoys exploring nature alongside his Great Dane, "Mo" and Jack Russel " Opal", indulges in restoring vintage American muscle cars, nurtures his growing houseplant collection, and treasures moments spent with family.
